1962 Thunderbird Convertible

9,844 convertibles were made in 1962 and sold for $4,320-$5,440.

The 1960's were all about the rocket age and automotive designers emulated it whenever they could.  The '61-'63 Thunderbirds took that to heart with the shape of a rocket beginning at the nose and finishing with a small guide fin and rocket exhaust taillight.  Often referred to as the "Bullet Birds".

The Thunderbird arrived with such luxury features as slide-away steering column for ease of access and a disappearing top into the trunk.

This vehicle  was delivered to Town & Country Ford in Clayton Missouri and remained in the area until 2012 when it joined Carlsen Classics in California.  Indications are this 66,000 mile vehicle may have only had two previous owners.  It was originally a special order Golden Rod Yellow.  The previous owner altered the color to this beautiful Moss Green with a tan top.  Outside of new wheels and updated ignition and carburetor this vehicle remains true to its stock conditions.  It can also be seen in the Summer 2012 Motor Trend Classic Issue 18 pg. 140.
